    Dr. Elisa Cuellar Alvarado, a distinguished internal medicine physician, has been providing comprehensive care to her patients since 2008, specializing in primary care for various acute and chronic conditions. Her expertise encompasses a broad range of health issues, including diabetes, thyroid disorders, vestibular problems, and hypertension. Beyond her clinical skills, she is proficient in weight management. She offers advanced treatments like arthritis therapy, PRP injections for knee and shoulder pain, PRP hair regrowth treatments, and botox injections.

    Born and raised in Texas, she excelled academically from an early age. Her academic prowess earned her several scholarships, including a Pre-Medicine Scholarship and an Undergraduate National Hispanic Scholarship.

     

    She pursued her medical degree at the University of Texas Medical Branch, where she completed her studies in 2005. Following her marriage, she relocated to Pasadena to undertake her residency in internal medicine at Huntington Memorial Hospital, eventually rising to the role of Co-Chief Medical Resident.

     

    Professional Milestones

     

    Since completing her residency in 2009, she has maintained a private practice and has admitting privileges at Huntington Memorial Hospital in Pasadena. In addition to her clinical roles, she took on leadership responsibilities as the Medical Director at Caring Partners Hospice in Glendale starting in 2022, where she contributes to pioneering end-of-life care.

     

    Research Contributions

     

    Dr. Alvarado has also made significant contributions to medical research. Notably, she was recognized for her research on Chagas' Disease, which she presented at the University of Texas Medical Branch Summer Research Symposium, earning the "Best Family Medicine Research Poster." Her other research endeavors include studies on the prevalence of STDs indicated by abnormal Papanicolaou smears among Hispanic women.

     

    Community Involvement and Personal Life

     

    Her commitment extends into community service and professional organizations. She has been an active member of the American College of Physicians since 2005. She has contributed to the education and advocacy for Latinos in healthcare through her involvement with the United Latin American Medical Student Organization.

     

    Outside of her professional life, she cherishes time with her husband and son and enjoys engaging in creative activities like painting, sketching, and arts and crafts.
